K. M. Rice Mills started its journey with the entrepreneurial aptitude of Khalid Mahmood Sherazi, who started his professional career from serving in RECP (Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan) in 1976 and ultimately moved into Rice Commissioning business as ‘Shaheen Traders’ in 1984 carrying his 8 years experience in the field of Rice.
Based on extreme hard work, dedication and the growth of business eventually K. M. Rice Mills was started in 1997. This modern husking facility is built over 8 acres of land in an Industrial Estate of Kamoke, the heart of Basmati growing beat, Punjab.
Pakistan is the 4th largest exporter of rice after Vietnam, Thailand and India. Rice is the 3rd largest crop being produced in Pakistan, with annual production of rice that exceeds 6 million tons. Pakistan exports around 60% of its produce and together with the rest of the Indian sub-continent, it is responsible for supplying 30% of the world’s paddy rice output.
Pakistan’s rice exports contribute more than US$ 2 billion to the national exchequer, and have been growing at a staggering rate of 26% in value over the last 5 years.
